Eerik Ohtamaa (b. 2001) is one of Finland’s most accomplished young organists. He studied organ at the Oulu Conservatory under Christian Ahlskog. Since 2021, he has studied at the Sibelius Academy, initially under Ville Urponen and later under Markku Hietaharju and Susanne Kujala. He has also studied with Professor Martin Schmeding at the Hochschule für Musik und Theater “Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy” in Leipzig. In addition, he has participated in numerous masterclasses in Finland and across Europe, working with such renowned organists as David Briggs, Ken Cowan, Zuzana Ferjenčíková, Bernard Foccroulle, Matthias Havinga, Nathan Laube, Olivier Latry, Maija Lehtonen, Jean-Baptiste Monnot, Daniel Moult, Erwan Le Prado, Pieter van Dijk and Ulrich Walther. He is currently completing his Master’s degree at the Sibelius Academy.

Ohtamaa gave his first organ recital in Kiiminki in 2016, at the age of just 15. Since then, he has performed actively both as a soloist and with various ensembles in Finland and Denmark. He has appeared at several major music festivals, including Lahti Organ Week, Mikkeli Music Festival, Mänttä Music Festival, Turku Organ Festival and the UML Festival in Oulu. He performed during the opening week of the new Rieger organ at Helsinki Music Centre and later appeared there as a soloist in Francis Poulenc’s Organ Concerto.

In August 2026, he will perform Camille Saint-Saëns’ Organ Symphony as a soloist with conductor Santtu-Matias Rouvali and the Philharmonia Orchestra (London). Later in the autumn, he will serve as the organist in Urkusatu BUU, a production written by Kari Hotakainen and composed by Jouni Hirvelä.
